Will My Lips Swell After Lip Filler?
The truth is everyone's different, one person may only swell a little bit, and another may swell a lot. It is very difficult to know which category you will fall into.
My advice is to always give yourself at least 48 hours after lip filler treatment. This should allow enough time for any lip filler swelling to go down. I STRONGLY advise at least 48 hours minimum if you have a big occasion coming up!
What is causing my Lips to Swell after Lip Filler?
The most likely cause is the trauma to the lips from injecting into them. People’s reactions vary, as mentioned above.
Another factor can be the choice of filler brand. One brand may cause you to swell, and another brand doesn't. In my experience, cheaper filler brands such as Revolax can increase the likelihood of swelling.
I only use the premium brand Teoxane. It is currently the leading dermal filler brand. It has patented technology that makes it a dynamic filler. It moves with your natural tissue making it the most natural appearing filler.
Pro tip: It is good practice to know what filler is being used on you in case you decide to move practitioner.
Just because your lips have not swollen previously doesn’t mean you won’t on your next visit. I’d still recommend the same rule and give yourself that safety net of 48 hours.
So again, please consider this when booking your (next) appointment.
P.S.A: Please don’t book a lip filler appointment the day before a significant engagement! There is always a chance that your lips may swell.
Let me repeat that:
DON’T BOOK A LIP FILLER APPOINTMENT THE DAY BEFORE A BIG ENGAGEMENT.
There, you’ve been warned! Several times and once in BLOCK capitals, so no excuses, people!
Book your next appointment, preferably with your medically trained practitioner....in good time!
